[Shedskin-list] packaging shedskin

Hi all,
After joining in the chorus of grumbling about packaging on Mark's blog,
I thought I should contribute something or shut up. So, I have:

1) rewritten setup.py so that it uses setuptools, and installs in a more
predictable way.

2) created a debian package

You can find both at http://www.ohuiginn.net/shedskin

These are both in a very untested, and probably bug-infested, state. I'll try to polish them up a bit, but I won't be able to do so until next week. So I figured I'd point you all at what I've already done, to minimise duplication of effort, etc.
They're currently based on the packaged version on sourceforge, rather
than on cvs (because the cvs version didn't seem to work correctly on my
machine, and I couldn't face the extra hassle of fixing it). Again, I do
plan to make a cvs patch with my changes - just not today.

have a good weekend, everybody!

Dan

that's great, thanks :-) but if you had read the grumbling more
closely, you could have seen I already received patches for both..

sorry about this, then.. I should have probably made both packages
myself, many versions of shed skin ago. anyway, I will have a look at
your scripts, to see if there are any differences.

I'm not sure if a CVS package would be very useful at the moment..
